Kaine, Warner praise immigration bill, Goodlatte raises concerns

Edgar Aranda-Yanoc, chairman of the Virginia Coalition of Latino Organizations, said that his group supports the Senate bill but asks for further reforms.

“The current language of the bill contains provisions requiring over-the-top border enforcement, harsh deportation measures that will continue to destroy families, and a mandate that employers use an electronic employment eligibility verification system that is riddled with errors that could lead to racial discrimination during the hiring process as well as impair the rights of U.S. citizens seeking employment,” Aranda-Yanoc said.
